As part of the construction of the BreBeMi highway, there will be important environmental interventions aiming to compensate, mitigate as well as promote the surrounding area.
The highway will connect Brescia, Bergamo and Milan across 62 Km, and is one of the most important new infrastructures funded in Northern Italy, involving also major government departments. It is part of the “Legge obiettivo”, vital to a successful Expo 2015.
MWH is responsible for project and program management and technical advising for the environmental monitoring final design and for coordinating the activities on site where a number of suppliers are involved. MWH is also in charge of the reporting activities to the Client, the Environmental Agency (ARPA), the Region and third parties, and also performs planning, contracts, accounting and environmental monitoring design. Environmental monitoring involves a number of surveys for air, noise, surface and ground water, soil, vegetation and fauna, landscape, with specific methods from pre-construction through to post construction phases. Activities also involve management of critical environmental issues according to ARPA and the General Contractor procedures, and the implementation and management of a dedicated GIS-Web based System.
